A lot depends on your body weight and the correct dosage but a great base line for the average size human being would be 1000 mg tincture of oil. What you would want to do is fill the eye dropper ( usually included with the bottle) half way and put the oil under your tongue holding it there for 60 seconds before swallowing for the best absorption into your blood stream. We tell customers to do this twice daily, once in the morning and again in the evening so they can feel the best benefits during the hours they are awake. CBD does help people relax and promote sleep however there are other CBD products such as gummies, capsules and mints that contain melatonin also which is known to help people sleep.
All of our bodies metabolize CBD at our own rate, what you need to do is some “Self Exploration” with CBD.
Here’s how I would recommend you do that:
- Start low and slow. Take 10mg CBD Oil. Not 10mg of CBD Oil, 10mg TOTAL CBD Dosage (depending on how much CBD is infused into the Oil, the amount of oil you need to “realize” 10mb CDB will vary. If your oil says there is 10mg CBD per ml Oil, then just take 1ml oil ).
- After 4 days, if you are not sleeping any better at that dosage, up it by 5–10mg. Try that new dosage for 4 days. If still not sleeping, Repeat the process of adding 5–10mg CBD at a time, use that new dosage for 4 days and re-evaluate 🙂
- Make sure your CBD Oil has Lab Tests Posted, if not – Do Not Buy!!!!
Not everyone is comfortable with “Self Exploration”, but it really is the ONLY way you can get the right dosage for your body 🙂

It takes about two or three hits off the pipe to put you to sleep. I have no idea how to equate that to mg’s of anything, but it can’t be a lot.
CBD is very expensive, far more than most good drugs.
Ambien is so good the instructions advise one to be in bed before taking it? The reason, no matter what your sleep issue, it knocks you out in roughly 5 minutes. No amount of CBD will do that (IMHO).
CBD is good, no disputing that. But when it comes to sleeping, Ambien is the oracle we worship, if there is no convenient partner about. I will take sex over any medicine any day (night) as my favorite sleeping pill (although it doesn’t promote instant sleep).
Sure, it take negotiation and compromise to get there—but there is no way to beat the payoff.
If you’re just beginning to take CBD, you should “administer, assess and adjust.” Start out with a 5-10mg CBD, for a 3-7 days; if it’s not effective, adjust the dose in 5-10mg increments until you find a level that’s both comfortable and effective.
This exploratory process allows each individual to find the comfortable level for them, as everyone’s body has an individual response, in addition to, metabolism rate for cannabinoids. The recommendation is also dependent on the condition and severity level, as well. With that said, there are some individuals that take their CBD oil in the morning, some throughout the day and some just before bed; in your case, the latter may be best.
You should be taking a full spectrum CBD oil to start with, meaning it should contain some thc. The dosage really depends on what strength CBD oil you have purchased. Is it a 10ml or 30ml bottle, 1000mg or 5000mg?? Have a quick google search and there are suggestions to help you. As a guide, you’d want to be taking about 20mg of high quality CBD oil around 45–60mins before bed time.

There is no legitimate research evidence for CBD oil benefitting insomnia or any other medical conditions. On the other hand, there have been few reported adverse reactions from using CBD oil except to the size of your wallet. The placebo effect can be real and if you think it works it may.
That depends on the oil and you. You are going to have to experiment.
