In America’s richest town, $500k a year is below average.

Mostly it’s a democracy and human rights club, and that’s a more important advantage than it seems for some of the more ‘freedom challenged’ members (in the same way, the European Charter of Human Rights has constrained the UK government at times).

Trade between Commonwealth members is also surprisingly high (50% higher than with comparable non-Commonwealth countries on average) and there are a lot of civil society, NGO and academic links too.

However, I would say a lot more could be done within the Commonwealth. Free trade for example would seem like a great goal. It would require the political will though.

At the national level, not much. Each enters it’s own trade pacts and other treaties. For individuals there are things like easier visas and travel between pairs of countries. My city has Australians and New Zealanders who are working on a special category for young people.

A major benefit for all are the Commonwealth Games that are restricted to members only. They are a friendly event like a family gathering in marked contrast to the politics and hostility of the Olympics. Some olympians from other countries attend just to feel what a friendly international event is like.

Other than the stock market, what are the best alternative investments that produce income?

Think Big. What’s the most lucrative investment in the world? With paintings selling for $450,000,000, our money is on art. That’s not a typo: Blue-chip art has outperformed the S&P by 180% from 2000–2018 (Source: Artprice). A recent Deloitte survey showed that 86% of wealth managers recommended allocating a portion of their portfolio in art. So what do you call it when one start-up makes investing in Banksy, KAWS, Monet & more affordable for everybody? We call it a great opportunity—and so do 80,000+ other members. Masterworks allows you access to buy and sell investments in paintings by artists like Banksy and Basquiat with 10-25% historical appreciation. Minimums starting at 10K. Why wait? The Commonwealth has become so good at what it does that non British colonies have started joining although more needs to be done on free trade which is something that is very much in discussion at the moment but the positives of the Commonwealth as it stands today ( lots of changes are planned for the future ) but if you want to find out more about the excellent programs of the Commonwealth a good place to start is here http://thecommonwealth.org/sites…

The Commonwealth has evolved over time. It is no longer the British Commonwealth of Nations, although the Monarch continues to serve as its unifying figure. HMQ is still the personification of the Commonwealth. There are economic and immigration advantages to Commonwealth membership which could profitably be enhanced and expanded. These alone make it well worth while for member nations to maintain on board.

Commonwealth countries are those countries that have once served as British territories.

I don’t know much about the benefits but the recent benefit I heard in news about the commonwealth countries Citizens is:

Commonwealth countries Citizens are benefited from the recent UK free-visa endorsement. With Mrs Theresa May as the new British Prime Minister, UK has announced a visa-free entry for all commonwealth citizens.

In a world of global relationships, what do you think? Networking, inter-governmental relationships, prestige, human interaction. These are far more important than raw military power. Morphing the Empire into the Commonwealth was a stroke of genius and amazing foresight by everyone involved, in particular what were known at the time as the dominions, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and probably India.

No benefits for commonwealth countries apart from England as thanks to its own new invention called the commonwealth it still has some kind of control over ex colonies from one way to other.

    Greetings

If your talking about the British Commonwealth then for me as a Brit I really don’t see the point of it. It is just a talking shop as far as I am concerned where the Queen goes and has her photo taken with all these leaders to smile a cheesy grin.

What is the point of it? Can it take military action like NATO can? Maybe in a round about way some good does come out of it but what I do not know!

People in the UK are saying whats the point of the EU well I say whats the point of the British Commonwealth unless someone on here can enlighten me ?
